Incident Report for Sauce Labs

Postmortem

Dates:

February 11 05:45 - February 11 07:00 PST

What happened:

The Application Storage service in Sauce Labs EU-Central-1 Data Center was experiencing issues resulting in intermittent HTTP status code 500 errors when uploading files and starting tests using applications in storage.

Why it happened:

An unexpected API change was introduced in one of the third-party components that the Application Storage service is interacting with to store and retrieve its data.

How we fixed it:

Our Application Storage client code was been patched to update the way we work with this third-party service.

What we are doing to prevent it from happening again:

We are monitoring API changes in related third-party components, so that we are able to react in advance of changes having an impact on our service.
